After six years, three full length albums, countless tours and shows revered Toronto folk-pop band Forest City Lovers is calling it a day with a special Farewell Concert at The Great Hall in Toronto on Thursday April 19th.
"This is not the end of my music making - far from it - but it is the beginning of a new chapter. All of us are doing different things and living in different cities and it feels right to start something new," explains band leader Kat Burns. "We have been astounded by the outpouring of support and encouragement from fans. Playing songs that I wrote in my gross first apartment in Toronto turned into playing in the most beautiful places, in front of many amazing people and accompanied by such dear friends and talented musicians. "
Out of this Sparks' genesis and growth as a label was very much connected to the folks that called Forest City Lovers home, and while we are saddened to see their time come to end, we are excited by the fact are all still busily at work making incredible music.
Burns will continue to make music under the name KASHKA and will be releasing a new pop collaboration with James Bunton (Ohbijou) this spring, with her eyes on releasing a full-length record of her own songs in the fall.
Bassist Kyle Donnelly can be heard on the upcoming release from Americana-Rock troupe House League, Violinist Mika Posen continues to perform with Timber Timbre, and Claire Whitehead continues to explore her musical talents with Cry Break.
In celebration of their time together Forest City Lovers will be performing one last time at a special farewell concert in Toronto at The Great Hall (1087 Queen Street West) with friends Kite Hill and Lisa Bozikovic. The night will also feature guest DJs Casey & Jenny Mecija (Ohbijou), surprise guests and special door prizes. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door, and are available at Rotate This and Soundscapes and online at http://forestcitylovers.eventbrite.ca/
